This is another fun little cove that is often overlooked for the bigger, deeper, amenity-rich Mattapoisett or Marion. The key is to pick a day when the wind is right, when it’s blowing right into the bay, you don’t want to be there. Try it on a north or north west wind day. If you have a shallow draft and a sharp lookout on the bow, you can get into the nice sand and drop the hook. It takes some careful, slow going, but you can work your way in between the rocks that form a bit of a barrier along side Haskell Island. Once past these, there’s a shallow sand bar that is lovely to hang out at. Walk in to the little beach, and look out over the salt marsh behind.
