Quissett is well know as a deep water anchorage, and its lovely for that, but if you’re looking for a spot to drop the hook, you can find that here as well. It’s a pretty crowded harbor with most of the deep water occupied by moorings, but if you can nose up to the beach, there is a great spot for you. Just before the Quissett Yacht Club docks there is a stretch of sand along the shore with a steep drop off to deep water. You can nose in to the sand, and have the stern in water deep enough to jump in and be over your head. This is a popular spot for people walking out to the Knob, so you may not be on your own, but there isn’t likely anyone else anchoring here.
